IDENTIFYING THE ISSUE – What Brought You Here?
You probably have a sense of what is not quite right in your life. Chances are, you’ve spent time thinking about situations that bother you, how you’ve tried to change them, and how often you find yourself back in circumstances you’d rather avoid. Maybe this book drew you in because of those very nagging concerns.
Let’s begin by acknowledging a fundamental truth: none of what you’re experiencing happens without your brain.
One of the most effective ways to start shifting your experience is to ask yourself a focused question—something like, Why do I become so rigid when I experience conflict? Then, answer immediately—don’t overthink. The first thing that comes to mind often reveals hidden patterns your brain has been referencing. You give credence to this first answer—even if it surprises you—because your brain has registered it for a reason.
If you sense something is off in your life but can’t put your finger on it, try this: create a simple pie chart. Map how you spend your time—work, family, health, hobbies. Define whether this is a day, week, or month. Seeing your life segmented visually helps you notice where your attention, energy, and thoughts are claimed. Then pick one issue you want to focus on.
